Infrastructure is vital to growth and economic development efforts. In order to sustain continued growth and development, a city must have and maintain a solid infrastructure system. The City of Ada
recognizes the importance of maintaining and improving infrastructure in order
to stimulate economic growth and improve safety and general quality of
life. The voters recognized the
importance of city streets and other infrastructure when they approved
Proposition 1 in 1998, 2002, and 2007. Proposition 1 devotes ¾ cent sales tax to improvement of the city’s
streets and infrastructure.
During the 06-07 fiscal year the
City of Ada invested over $3 million into infrastructure improvements. The
majority of these projects were street improvements, but significant
improvements were also made to water and sewer systems. The first few months of the 07-08 fiscal year
have shown the City of Ada's dedication to continually improving its
infrastructure. Recent infrastructure improvements
include sewer line replacement on Kings Road and the alley in the 100-200
blocks of West Main and 12th Streets, street repairs and upgrades
along 10th Street and Broadway Avenue, Stadium Drive, and Crownpoint
Drive. These street projects have improved safety and the flow of traffic.
These three streets combined have a daily traffic volume of over 15,000. Traffic
volume on the recently improved sections of Crownpoint and Stadium Drives has
increased by 27.1% and 15.7% respectively from 2002 to 2004, the last year data
is available. As the City of Ada moves forward in the 07-08 fiscal year,
additional infrastructure improvements are planned.
Solid infrastructure is critical to economic
development. Without a solid foundation to build upon, economic growth and
development cannot prosper. The City of Ada’s dedication to continued infrastructure
improvements has been instrumental in the economic growth of the area. For more infomation on infrastructure improvements, visit the City of Ada website at Adaok.com
